Product Tour Software Options for SaaS Websites
Interactive product tour software and product walkthrough software aren’t the same, but people often use the terms interchangeably.
So, let’s clear up the confusion — starting with definitions.
Product walkthroughs guide users through your product while they are already in the app.
Product tours, on the other hand, are interactive demos most commonly used on SaaS websites — often with a CTA encouraging potential customers to “Take a Tour.”
Check out our article on Product Walkthroughs vs Interactive Product Tours for a more detailed breakdown of the two.
In this article, we’ll focus on product tour software and explain why they are the right choice when inviting users to experience your product firsthand.
Growth in the Product Tour CTA
Product tour software educates, engages, and converts your target audience. And it’s becoming more and more popular as a result.
Our 2024 State of the Interactive Product Demo report shows a significant rise in product tour software usage — increasing by nearly 90% since 2022.
To give you a sense of scale, our average customer built 9 demos last year. And this year, the average customer built 20.
CTAs are a common use case for these product tours. Of the 5,000 B2B SaaS websites we analyzed in the report, 9.26% used some version of a “Product Tour” CTA.
Most marketing teams link out to interactive product tour demos via a “Take a Tour” button.
But others decide to embed product tours on their website or product pages. Some even create a whole library of demos with intuitive filtering so prospects and customers can run through the demos most relevant to their wants and needs.
SaaS Product Tour Software
To give you an idea of the product tour software on the market, we’ve outlined the vendors we hear about on our sales calls, complete with pros and cons for each.
Navattic
Navattic is unique in that its no-code, drag-and-drop interface makes it easy for any team member to create interactive demos. We support interactive demo builds for mobile apps, desktop apps, and web-based tools.
Our guided HTML/CSS demos have been used on websites, in marketing campaigns, and in sales follow ups. And we offer on-demand demo reviews for all customers to ensure they are successful.
Besides integrations with Salesforce and HubSpot, we have integrations with G2, Twilio Segment, Marketo Google Analytics, Mutiny, Chameleon, and more.
Best for: Mid-market or enterprises that want to use interactive guided demos across their entire GTM motion — without having to consult their engineering teams.
G2 Rating: 4.8/5
Pricing: You can see our pricing on our website. Since we don’t charge per license or per demo, you can invite as many team members or departments to use Navattic as you want:
- Base: $500/mo for unlimited licenses, interactive demos, demo views
- Growth: $1,000/mo for SSO, multi-team organization and permissions, dedicated CSM, demo coaching
Note: We also offer a dedicated plan for startups and can draft a customized plan to fit any unique company requirements.
Reprise
Overall, Reprise is more of a sales tool than a product tour software tool, but it does have some product tour features. It’s best known for offering three different kinds of demos: walk-throughs, live demo overlays, and sandboxes.
With that variety comes complexity that often demands engineering help. Ultimately, the extra time getting up to speed decreases the capacity marketers, SEs, and AEs have for other strategic work.
And if customers go the sandbox demo route, they are opening themselves up to the kinds of errors they could encounter during a live demo.
Best for: Large demo environments, such as Zendesk, Dialpad, and ServiceNow
G2 Rating: 4.3/5. According to some users, Reprise is “slower to reach ROI” than Navattic.
Pricing: Reprise does not publicly share its pricing. Based on our conversations with our customers, the cost scales based on number of demos and user seats. Because they don’t work with companies that have fewer than 200 employees, Reprise likely has enterprise-grade pricing.
Loom
Technically, Loom is a video communication software, but you can still create product tours with it.
Video-led tours are typically the fastest to set up. And because you don’t have to worry about responsiveness or mobile availability, these demos tend to be compatible with more platforms.
Unlike Navattic, though, Loom users are taping the real product — not a secondary capture — which means that if something goes wrong during the video, they have to start all over again.
Plus, Loom videos don’t make prospects feel like they are exploring your product, making it hard for them to tell what’s a real product capability and what’s not.
G2 Rating: 4.7/5.
Best for: Early-stage startups that want to show their “product” even if the full application isn’t built yet.
Pricing:
- Starter: Free for up to 25 videos/person, 5 mins/video
- Business: $12.50/user/mo for unlimited videos and unlimited recording length
- Enterprise: Loom pushes you to a rep
Note: Navattic has screenshot-builder capabilities as well, but HTML/CSS captures are our bread and butter.
Tourial
Similar to Loom, Tourial customers use screenshots and video capture to create product walk-throughs. One standout Tourial feature is their “TourPlayer,” which lets you build a playlist of demos catering to specific segments within your ICP.
To speed up the sales cycle, Tourial has built-in connections to Calendly and Chili Piper.
While video-based tours like Tourial showcase mobile and Chrome extension functionality, drag-and-drop, and other actions that HTML capture can’t pick up, the graphics can’t be easily edited or personalized.
Best for: Chrome extension-based apps or pre-live production apps
G2 Rating: 4.5/5
Pricing: Tourial does not advertise the cost of their product. Their interactive demos plan comes with unlimited interactive demos and users, integrated lead forms, contact-level intent data, a dedicated CSM, and strategy consultations.
Arcade
Arcade is a primarily screenshot-driven demo software tool, but users have the ability to weave in video and audio clips they’ve captured through Arcade’s Chrome extension. For an additional cost, they can trim, speed up, and edit those videos.
To get team members on the same page, Arcade offers workflow and collaboration features directly within the platform. But editing screenshots and videos still takes significant time and resources, and Arcade charges per seat.
And because these demos are static, Arcade is better suited to quick, high-level overviews rather than in-depth demos that highlight the full scope of a product. Arcade also lacks integrations with automation tools like Zapier and key CRMs.
Best for: Social media or help article interactive demos
Approach: Screenshot
G2 Rating: 4.8/5
Pricing Comparison: Arcade has a free trial with 1 user and 3 published demos. Paid plans include:
- Pro: $32/mo for 1 user, unlimited Arcades, screenshot blurring, 1080p video exports, and intercom.
- Growth: $212.50/mo for 5 users. Each additional user adds $42.50 per month to your bill. This plan includes white-labeled Arcades, custom themes, insights, and advanced branching features.
- Enterprise: Custom monthly price for enterprise teams.
Product Tour + Walkthroughs Software
At Navattic, we’ve had some prospects ask if there are any tools that can do both tours and walkthroughs.
But even if the two tools look similar on the front end, the technology powering them on the back end looks quite different.
The good news is that there are options to integrate the two in ways that enhance the user experience.
Say you want to increase your free trial activation rate. Adding interactive demos to your in-app onboarding flow gets users excited, convincing them to actually set up and use their free trial.
Our integration with Chameleon, a product walkthrough software, makes it easy to create onboarding campaigns that give users the option to “Take a Tour” or “See Demo” before giving the free trial a whirl.
Activating the integration is easy — you simply copy and paste Navattic embed code into any Chameleon Experience.
You could also use this integration to re-engage free trailers who’ve gotten stuck.
After a certain stage of the free trial or after a period of inactivity, an exit intent pop-up can prompt users to keep going by showing them another feature via interactive demos.
